Hemp seeds are very rich in proteins and promote reproduction. They are fortifying and warming seeds, appreciated by all types of birds.
They are rich in ethereal extract (oils) and proteins. They contain THC, which stimulates sexual interest in birds. Care should be taken not to give birds too much hemp to avoid constipation and excessive excitement in the animals. They are mainly used in grain mixtures for canaries, exotic birds, wild birds, parakeets, large parakeets and parrots. They should never be used excessively.
