PROPERTIES: TABERNIL® SULFA contains two active substances with a synergistic effect: sulfaquinoxaline has an antagonistic effect on paraaminobenzoic acid, inhibiting tetrahydrofolic acid which is essential for coccidia, and pyrimethamine, a pyrimidine derivative, which acts antagonistically to folic acid, which acts by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. In canaries and other birds, the occurrence of coccidiosis by Isospora serini, Isospora canaria, Isospora lacazei, Isospora communis passarum has been reported. In psittacoids, coccidiosis is associated with the species Eimeria dunsingi and Isospora spp.

COMPOSITION: Sulfaquinoxaline 40 mg, pyrimethamine 10 mg, excipients qs 1 ml. INDICATIONS: Treatment of coccidiosis caused by protozoa of the Eimeria and Isospora species. SPECIES FOR WHICH THE PRODUCT IS INTENDED: Canaries and decorative birds (canaries, goldfinches, budgies, etc.). Do not administer to pigeons. DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION: TABERNIL® SULFA is administered with drinking water at a dose of 1.5 ml/liter, which is equivalent to drops per 100 ml of water, for three consecutive days. This is followed by an interruption of treatment for two days, and then treatment again for three days. The water with the solution must be prepared daily (before administration). INTERACTIONS AND INCOMPATIBILITIES: Do not administer together with drugs containing PABA or its derivatives, due to competition problems. OBSERVATIONS: Following the recommended dosage, no contraindications or side effects have been reported. STORAGE: Keep the vial tightly closed, in a cool and shady place. PACKAGING: 20 ml bottle. Keep it away from children.
